Social media & event promotion · Leeton NSW

Make sure Leeton hears about it.

You made the flyer, you posted it, and afterwards people still say “I never heard about that.” G’day, I’m Leigh. I help local businesses, clubs and community groups get the word out so people actually turn up. Practical stuff, no big budget needed.

The problem

Posting it isn’t the same as promoting it.

Usually you haven’t done anything wrong. The message just hasn’t travelled far enough. Regional businesses are competing in very busy feeds, mostly without ad budgets or anyone whose job is marketing.

One post

Reaches some of your followers, once. Then the feed moves on and the flyer sinks under the footy scores.

A plan

  • Gives people more than one chance to notice, forget, hear it again and decide to come.
  • Travels through community pages, Facebook Events, other businesses and the people involved.
  • Keeps the important details easy to find every single time.

How I can help

Get seen. Get people through the door.

Help as hands-on as you need: I can do it for you, do it with you, or set you up to keep it going yourself.

01

Event promotion

Got a gig, fundraiser, market, workshop or open day coming up? I’ll map out the lead-up and help you run it: the announcement, the posts that give people a reason to care, the Facebook Event, getting other locals sharing it, and the reminders that get people out the door.

Good for: venues, clubs, festivals, fundraisers

02

Social media for your business

Regular posts that sound like you, not a template. Planning, writing and scheduling, or a hand getting into a rhythm you can actually keep up between serving customers.

Good for: shops, cafes, trades, local services

03

Page tune-up

We sit down and go through your Facebook and Instagram together. What’s working, what isn’t, and a short list of fixes you can knock over this week. No jargon, no 40-page report.

Good for: anyone who posts and wonders why nobody sees it

04

Sessions for clubs & groups

A practical session for your committee or volunteers on getting the word out: what to post, when to start, and how to get the rest of town helping you spread it.

Good for: sporting clubs, community groups, not-for-profits

Free: the local event plan

A simple local event promotion plan

You don’t need to post every day. You do need to give people enough chances to notice. Pop your event date in and you’ll get the plan with real dates attached.

The more you’re asking of people, the earlier you start.

A free Friday night gig might only need a couple of weeks. A fundraiser, ticketed event, workshop or anything people travel for needs longer, because they’re sorting out money, babysitters and lifts. Want a hand running yours? Get in touch.

    For the rest of us

    Help local be seen.

Supporting a local business doesn’t always mean spending money. For rural towns with small audiences, the little things make a real difference. Bonus: the more you interact with local pages, the more of what’s on around town actually shows up in your feed.

    Follow

Follow the venues, clubs, businesses and community pages you actually care about. Start with one today.

    Favourite

Add your top local pages to Facebook Favourites. On iPhone: ☰ menu › Feeds › Favourites › Manage, then search and tap Add.

    Interested

Tap “Interested” on events that appeal. It tells Facebook what you want to see, and you’ll get the reminder.

    Share

Comment, share, save or tag a mate when a local post is useful. That’s how a flyer gets past the same 200 people.

Organisers still need to get the word out. We can help ourselves hear about it.

    About

    G’day, I’m Leigh.

I’m a Leeton local with a Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication from TAFE NSW, and I do marketing and events work with the Sorella Group.

The thing I hear most after a local event has been and gone is “I never heard about that.” There’s plenty happening in rural towns. The hard part is making sure people actually hear about it, especially when you’re a small business or a volunteer committee doing it all on the side.

So that’s what I help with. Nothing complicated, just useful stuff that helps local businesses, events and organisations get seen.

When I’m not doing that, I’m probably pulling raku pots out of a kiln or upside down on a yoga mat.

    Got something coming up?

Tell me what you’ve got on and when, and I’ll come back with a few ideas. Event next month, a business page that’s gone quiet, or a club that keeps hearing “I didn’t know”: all good.

    Quick brief

Fill this in and I’ll copy it for you, then open Instagram so you can paste it straight into a message.
